BACK TO BASICS FOR ALL DISCIPLINES!

Sometimes we may need to step back and review our relationship with our horse – are we truly getting the most out of it?  Do we need to renew some good habits, take a look at our methods, or just refresh our knowledge of the basics, refining our use of the aids?

Captain Luis de la Garza teaches any level of student how to better communicate with their horse in a true harmonious and willing partnership.

Captain de la Garza is a retired Mexican Cavalry Officer having graduated from the Military Academy in Mexico City.  After graduation, he attended the Military School of Equitation under the auspices of the Mexican Equestrian Team.  During his eleven years in the cavalry, he was a trainer, teacher, and competitor in dressage, jumping, and cross-country riding.  After his retirement from the Mexican Cavalry, he taught for six years at the Escuela Ecuestre civilian riding school in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico.  Later, he owned and directed the Centro de Equitacion civilian riding school in San Miguel until 1980.  Since that time he has been in the United States working as a trainer and teacher at riding schools in Colorado and Arizona.  He taught at Old Adobe Riding School in Tucson for nearly 14 years.  He has been a recognized dressage judge with the American Horse Shows Association.  Semi-retired now, he is teaching in Willcox, Arizona, at the McLaughlin Appaloosa and Quarter Horse farm.  Captain de la Garza has built an enthusiastic following, through his keen understanding of horse and rider, and his unique ability to pass his knowledge along in a quiet, calm, systematic and often humorous way.
